Working closely with the organisations SVP’s and executive team, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sustainable Operations to lead their sustainability efforts and drive impactful change across their operations.
As the Director of Sustainable Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of sustainability strategies across their global hotel portfolio. Based in their Chicago office with global travel, you will work closely with senior leadership, hotel managers, and external partners to integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of their operations, from energy management and waste reduction to sustainable sourcing and guest engagement.
Key Responsibilities - Director of Sustainable Operations:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with their company’s goals and enhances their reputation as a leader in sustainable hospitality
- Energy and Resource Management: Lead initiatives to improve energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management across all hotel properties, ensuring the adoption of best practices and innovative technologies
- Sustainable Sourcing: Collaborate with procurement teams to establish and enforce sustainable sourcing policies, prioritizing eco-friendly products and services
- Operational Integration: Work with hotel managers and staff to integrate sustainable practices into daily operations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies
- Carbon Reduction: Develop and manage programs aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of their hotels, including renewable energy adoption, sustainable construction, and retrofitting projects
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with guests, employees, and external partners to promote sustainability initiatives, foster a culture of environmental responsibility, and drive community involvement
- Monitoring and Reporting: Establish metrics and reporting systems to track progress on sustainability goals, providing regular updates to senior leadership and other stakeholders
The successful Director of Sustainable Operations will have:
- Extensive experience in sustainability management at executive level, preferably within the hospitality or related industry
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies
- Strong knowledge of energy management, waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, and carbon reduction practices
- Experience in managing large-scale sustainability projects across multiple locations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in sustainability reporting and data analysis
- Relevant qualifications in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field are highly desirable
- Ability to travel as required globally to oversee sustainability initiatives at various hotel locations
In return, the successful individual will receive an attractive compensation package consisting of:
- A competitive salary of up to $180,000 base salary plus company car and expansive benefits package
